Tutorial

  Although the methods in ecological informatics are useful and flexible in solving ecological problems, the techniques are not easy to learn for the specialists without sufficient backgrounds in computational sciences and ecological modeling. At ISEI4 in Busan, tutorial courses for "Learning processes in ecological informatics (tentative)" will be offered for the participants, who are interested in implementing techniques in ecological informatics for their research. We are very lucky to invite the most well-known specialists in ecological informatics as lecturers for tutorial courses, Prof. Fridriech Recknagel, Adelaide University, Australia, Prof. Sovan Lek, University of Paul Sabatier, France, Prof. Michele Scardi, University of Rome, Italy, and Dr. Young-Seuk Park, CEMAGREF, France.
  Tutorial courses include the most frequently used techniques in artificial networks, unsupervised and supervised learning. A two-and-half hour special session is additionally scheduled for allowing the participants to apply the learning techniques to ecological data. The participants are welcome to bring their own data for analysis and to learn more about the learning processes for their research directly from the most-experienced authorities on the spot.

Lectures

Tutorial fees:
With ISEI4 registration: 90 USD (Student: 50 USD)
Tutorial courses only: 150 USD (Student: 100 USD)

Registration fee includes tutorial courses (lecture notes, software) and special lectures of sessions on October 24.

Cancellation

  Cancellations for tutorials received before August 16, 2004 will be refunded less a processing fee of 20 USD. Cancellations received before September 24, 2004 will be refunded less 50%. Cancellations received after this date will not entitle to any refund. All refunds will be processed after the conference.
